DEL preview, match day 44: EHC Red Bull München vs. Schwenninger Wild Wings
In Sunday's clash between the two pursuers in Mannheim, Munich unfortunately only managed to pick up one point after a real battle. The Red Bulls ultimately lost 3-4 after a penalty shootout in Kurpfalz. Schwenningen, on the other hand, failed to pick up any points, with the Wild Wings losing 1-4 to ERC Ingolstadt.

Munich travels to the Neckar in third place in the table (84 points, two points behind Mannheim), while the Wild Wings are in the all-important tenth place (54 points, three points ahead of Augsburg). This qualifies them for the first playoff round and is therefore highly coveted.
Two-goal lead not enough
Our away game at the Adlern, on the other hand, was hotly contested. Without four key players in attack, the Red Bulls put in a strong performance from the second period onwards and were on course for an away win after 50 minutes. In just over six minutes in the final period, we turned an early 0-1 deficit into a 3-1 lead at the SAP Arena in Mannheim.
The end was bitter from our point of view. The hosts actually saved themselves with two late goals to force overtime and were ultimately the lucky winners in the penalty shootout. “You can never write off a team like that. They are extremely dangerous in the offensive zone and then it can happen very quickly,” said Tobi Rieder after the game.
We now want to pick up three more important points in Schwenningen before the almost four-week Olympic break.
Helios Arena no longer a fortress
Of course, the Schwenninger Wild Wings are also pursuing this goal. Steve Walker's team has suffered three defeats in its last four games, but before that it had three wins in a row. At their home arena, the Helios Arena, the Neckarstadt team recently lost 2-3 to the Kölner Haie and 3-5 to the Eisbären Berlin.

// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
In any case, the Wild Wings have lost some of their usual home strength this season. The offense in particular is struggling: Schwenningen has scored only 63 goals in its own arena, with only Frankfurt (49) and Dresden (40) scoring fewer at home.
Regular player back, X-factor Eriksson
Important for the Wild Wings: Will Weber returned to the team a few days ago after months out with injury, a very important defensive player. However, the central factor in the back line remains goalkeeper Joacim Eriksson, who also secured the 4-2 home win against us on matchday 8 at the beginning of October last year.
Up front, the twins Tyson and Tylor Spink are once again making their mark this year with a combined 51 points, while Alexander Karachun is the most dangerous attacker with 16 goals. A few days ago, an agreement was reached to terminate the contract of Zach Senyshyn, one of Schwenningen's best forwards in recent years.
Red Bulls want to break away streak
In any case, the Black Forest has been a very difficult place for the Red Bulls in recent years. Our last away win in Schwenningen was on December 23, 2022, when we won 5-2.

We would be happy with a similar result on Tuesday, so we can go into the break on a high note.
