DEL preview, match day 11: EHC Red Bull München visits Frankfurt

Visiting the Main metropolis: Red Bulls face a challenge against the Frankfurt Lions// DEL - PREVIEWEHC Red Bull München is on an upward trajectory. Our guys are looking to continue this trend on Friday against Löwen Frankfurt. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. (live on MagentaSport, on HENRY, and on our blog).
The match in Frankfurt also marks the end of our four-game away stretch. Coach Oliver David saw “a step in the right direction,” particularly in the two games in Nuremberg and Mannheim, where we earned a total of four points. The Red Bulls are looking to score again against the Lions – this time three times over.

Lions stabilize after horror start
The Frankfurt Lions got off to a horror start to the new season. In their very first game of the season, the Hessians went down 1-9 to Wolfsburg in their own stadium. They also failed to pick up any points in the next four games before making a comeback with a 3-2 overtime derby win against leaders Adler Mannheim. Frankfurt picked up seven points in the following three games. It was only last Sunday that their points streak came to an end in Ingolstadt (2-5).
Two former Munich players
In that game, Dennis Lobach received a game misconduct penalty for a knee check. The Lions' second-best scorer (three goals) was subsequently suspended for one game and will therefore miss the clash with his former club. Unlike our former defender Ryan McKiernan, who moved from Düsseldorf to the Main metropolis in the summer and is expected to stabilize the defense.

Stars and starlets
Coach Tom Rowe has got his team back on track. However, their power play record still leaves a lot to be desired: the Lions are the least dangerous team in the league, with only two goals in 32 power play situations (a rate of 6.25 percent). One of these goals was scored by Cameron Brace, who is also the most dangerous offensive player in the Lions' pack with four goals. The top scorer is Linus Fröberg (seven points). Defensively, a lot depends on captain Maksim Matushkin. However, the powerful-shooting defenseman has been out with an injury since the third game day.
This puts the spotlight on other players, such as Fabio and Timo Kose. The 18-year-old twins played for Regensburg in the DEL2 last season, but are now causing a sensation in the top flight. A taste of what they can do: striker Timo's spectacular penalty in the shootout against Eisbären Berlin.
Aiming for a dozen
The DEL record clearly speaks in favor of our boys: the two teams have met twelve times, with only the first duel being lost in a penalty shootout. Since then, there have been eleven victories. On Friday, we want to make it a dozen.
