Red Bull München: Four points against Nuremberg Ice Tigers and Adler Mannheim
Before Thursday evening's game against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers, EHC Red Bull München had nine points from eight games to date. Not enough, said captain Patrick Hager ahead of the game. “We shouldn't panic, we're still in the process of finding our feet. Special teams shine in both games
Our team's power play is also becoming increasingly effective. Our special teams scored once against Nuremberg and three times on Sunday when the opposition was short-handed! Four goals in two games, after we had only managed to celebrate five times on the power play in the previous eight games. When short-handed, we only conceded one goal in both games. A more than positive trend.
“Mannheim has only conceded one goal while shorthanded this season. So the fact that we scored three times on the power play is a great success,” summarized Coach David, who felt proud despite the narrow 3-4 defeat in Sunday's shootout: "We had some incredible chances during the game. We managed to get in front of their goal in creative ways. We played an excellent game against the league leaders and are taking away many positive impressions. We can be proud of our effort, even though we would have liked to win."
While the coach identified mistakes in transition play as the cause of the goals conceded, he did not want to detract from the overall impression of this weekend. Because these four points and the way the boys earned them “is all in all a good step in the right direction.”
Friday in Frankfurt, Sunday at home against Dresden
Our team continues on Friday (7:30 p.m.) with an away game at Löwen Frankfurt, before we finally return to the SAP Garden on Sunday after four consecutive away games. Tickets for the game against newly promoted Dresdner Eislöwen are still available.
