EHC Red Bull München: Veit Oswald will play for Munich in the 2026–27 season
The 21-year-old will remain on coach Oliver David’s roster for at least the upcoming season, despite several offers from the NHL.
“Yes, there were talks. We also spoke with Edmonton’s general manager. Those were very positive and constructive meetings. Ultimately, however, I decided to continue playing for Munich for the time being next season,” Oswald explains his decision not to move to the NHL this summer, despite the interest.
Oswald wants to continue developing in Munich
Among other reasons, the 21-year-old cites his ongoing development. “Sure, it’s an incredible opportunity, but personally, I think it’s just too early because I know where I need to improve. That’s why I won’t be making the move, but will instead gain more experience here first,” says our number 27.
This means Oswald will be entering his fifth season with EHC Red Bull München next season. He has been on the roster of the four-time German champions since 2022 and has made a total of 187 appearances for the Red Bulls in the PENNY DEL (173 games) and the Champions League (14).
Highlights von Veit Oswald aus der Saison 2025/26
// HIGHLIGHTS
Oswald's Most Successful DEL Season
Over the past season, the forward took another major step forward in his development. In 49 games during the regular season and playoffs, Oswald recorded 14 goals and 16 assists. This made him one of the top German scorers in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga before an injury-forced hiatus from late January until the playoffs in March. For him personally, it was his most successful DEL season to date with 30 points (previously 2023/24 | 19 points).
In recognition of his strong performances, Oswald was nominated in January by national team coach Harold Kreis for the Olympic camp in Bolzano. However, Oswald was then forced to withdraw from the preparations for the prestigious ice hockey tournament due to injury. In the playoffs, the forward returned to the Red Bulls’ roster.
Oswald: “If I play well, my second chance will come”
Next season, Oswald plans to build on this momentum and continue his development so that he can eventually make the move overseas with full confidence. His dream, of course, is to play in the NHL. However, the timing must also be right.
“Of course, there’s a risk that there won’t be a second chance next year, for example, due to a serious injury. But I’m certain: if I play well and continue to improve, a second chance will come,” Oswald affirms.
