PENNY DEL reports further record figures// NEWSThe 2024/25 season in the German Ice Hockey League has come to an end with further record-breaking achievements.
For the first time ever, more than three million spectators watched the games in the arenas of the 14 clubs during the past season. A total of 3.21 million visitors attended the PENNY DEL games in the main round and playoffs. After a record-breaking main round (7,781 spectators per game on average), the league also set a new record in the playoffs: with an average of 10,678 spectators, the ten thousand mark was exceeded for the first time in the league's history.
Record year for the Red Bulls at SAP Garden
The Red Bulls' first season in their new home was also an absolute record-breaking season. Thanks to the possibilities offered by the SAP Garden, we almost doubled our average attendance in the main round from 5,158 to 10,176 spectators per game. A total of 264,573 fans came to the Olympiapark for the 26 games of the 2024/25 main round. In addition, there were three playoff quarterfinal games against Mannheim, all of which were sold out.
TV figures reach new high
The PENNY DEL's TV figures also reached new highs: A total of 27.3 million viewers watched the DEL games on MagentaSport last season. This represents an increase of around 10 percent compared to the previous season. The dominance of champions Eisbären Berlin in the playoffs did not affect the reach: With 254,000 viewers, the record for a pay-TV game in the PENNY DEL was broken again in the fifth final game last Friday. In addition, DF1 attracted a total of more than 2.5 million viewers on free-to-air TV during the season, meaning that the PENNY DEL recorded a total of almost 30 million television viewers in the past season.
