Close duels, but trailing 0:2: Red Bulls don't want to bury their heads in the sand
Saturday, 18. March 2023 | Playoffs DEL: EHC Red Bull München - Voices and Stats after Game 2
Close duels, but trailing 0:2: Red Bulls don't want to bury their heads in the sandVoices & Stats for the second quarterfinal match// DEL - CURRENTThe Red Bulls missed the series equalizer in the playoff quarterfinals against the Penguins Bremerhaven on Friday night. Konrad Abeltshauser stresses what needs to improve to turn the series around. The votes & stats.
Don Jackson: "We were a little better in the first 40 minutes, led and wanted to follow up. We took two penalties in the third period and gave away the lead - that's the story of the game. The effort was right today and tactically it was also good until we made two mistakes that allowed Bremerhaven to get back into the game."
Konrad Abeltshauser: "This time we took the lead. We have to bring the thing home then, but we hurt ourselves with the penalties. We need more people in front of the goal, shots with screens and rebounds. We just have to take our chances better and work the glass in. We can't bury our heads in the sand, go home now and want to take the series."
Thomas Popiesch (Coach, Pinguins Bremerhaven): "It was the expected tough game because Munich has a lot of quality. We wanted to keep a few things easier, which we didn't always manage, because Munich kept coming through the neutral zone with speed. The team fought sacrificially and saw how it can go. We have arrived in the series."
Phillip Bruggisser (defenseman, Penguins Bremerhaven): "I'm very proud of the guys. We came back this time after being behind. That shows our character. We do a lot of little things right and play simple, hard field hockey. But the 2-0 lead means nothing, we need two more wins. And Munich is a great team."
