Highlights: EHC Red Bull München vs. HC Dynamo Pardubice (August 22, 2026)
Game Summary
The Red Bulls came out strong on offense and created their first good scoring chances. Yasin Ehliz tested Malcolm Subban for the first time, and Dominik Kahun missed the rebound (1st minute). Shortly afterward, Pardubice showed a glimpse of its class for the first time, but Antoine Bibeau was also up to the task. It remained an entertaining matchup in the first period, with Munich playing with determination and creating more good scoring chances. In the 14th minute, the breakthrough came: Thaler recovered the puck behind the net and found Rieder in the slot, who scored to make it 1-0. Shortly before the intermission, however, the Czechs struck back on the power play: Miguel Tourigny tied the game at 1-1 (20th minute).
Both teams continued to play offensively after the break. The Red Bulls looked for quick shots on goal, and Pardubice didn’t hesitate either. After an evenly matched opening phase, the Czech champions picked up the pace. Bibeau moved to center and shone, notably against David Tomášek (27th minute). The Canadian also withstood the pressure during a power play (starting at the 33rd minute). But just as in the first period, Dynamo had the last word: Daniel Gazda’s cross-ice pass hit a Munich skater’s blade, and from there the puck bounced into the net for a 1–2 lead (39th minute).
Pardubice continued to aggressively disrupt the Red Bulls’ build-up play in the final period—even while shorthanded. Shortly thereafter, Bibeau prevented a third goal while Munich was shorthanded (starting at 43:00). The Czechs dominated the game during this phase, yet Munich also created good scoring chances. Veit Oswald, however, only hit the side netting (46:00). Then it was Munich’s power-play units’ turn to shine—and this time the puck went in: Hirose set up Thaler, who fired a shot on goal and tied the game at 2–2 (51st minute). The goal gave Munich a boost, and the game was now wide open. Both teams had chances to seal the win. McKenna was the one to do it, scoring the 3–2 goal for Munich after a spectacular assist from Ehliz (58th minute). Pardubice now pushed for the equalizer with six players on the ice, but Bibeau was unbeatable.

Oliver David:
“It was a tough challenge today. Pardubice plays hard; they’re strong and experienced. The team has outstanding speed and, in terms of skill, is among the best I’ve seen in Europe. But we did a good job and got into the game quickly. In the second period, it felt like we were on the defensive for 15 minutes. In the third period, we came back—and turned the game around in the end. It was like a marathon: In the end, we were the first to cross the finish line.”
