However, the first step has been taken: Tuesday’s decisive 5-1 victory is more than just a sign of life; it gives the Red Bulls a boost.
“Just the way we approached the last game,” Maxi Kastner replies when asked how we plan to approach Game 5 of the series in Mannheim (Friday | 7:00 p.m.). After falling behind 0-3 in the semifinals despite three incredibly close games, EHC Red Bull Munich made an impressive comeback on Tuesday.
The 5-1 victory marks the first time they’ve saved a match point and is also the first milestone on the path to achieving something unprecedented: turning a 0-3 deficit into a series win.
A home win with a statement-making impact
The team has learned its lessons from the first games of the series, Kastner assures us: “We gave ourselves four chances to win the game. Three times it ended unhappily for us. Now we’ve found the right momentum and want to keep it going.” Tuesday’s decisive victory was an important sign: “A 5-1 win is, of course, also a statement to the opponent. We’re still a force to be reckoned with; you can’t just write us off. We simply believe in ourselves—that’s the most important thing.”

If Coach Oliver David’s team wins Game 5 in Mannheim, the sixth game of the series will take place on Sunday, April 19, at 4:30 p.m. at SAP Garden. Advance ticket sales would then begin immediately after the game ends on Friday evening.
