DEL preview, match day 24: EHC Red Bull München visits Dresden
The Red Bulls' winning streak was halted on Friday evening. Coach Oliver David's team lost 3-1 at the Iserlohn Roosters, leaving the ice without points for the first time after four wins in a row.

The losing streak of the Dresdner Eislöwen continues, even though the Saxons were able to send a small sign of life in the relegation battle on Friday. In the first game under the management of interim coach Petteri Kilpivaara, the team at the bottom of the table lost 3-2 after overtime at leaders ERC Ingolstadt to earn a point.
Narrow victory in the first duel
Munich and Dresden met for the first time ever in the PENNY DEL on October 19. And the Eislöwen showed that they should not be taken lightly, despite their position in the table.

A low point with consequences
Since then, the newly promoted team has only won two games, and the Eislöwen have only managed a total of three wins and ten points. Although more points would have been possible, they gave them away in some close games. As a result, Dresden's debut season in the top German league has been a bitter one so far.
The low point for the time being: the 1:6 home defeat on Wednesday against the penultimate-placed Iserlohn Roosters. And this was to have consequences, as the following day the previous head coach Niklas Sundblad was dismissed and Matthias Roos was relieved of his position as sporting director. Until a new head coach is found, assistant coach Petteri Kilpivaara is now in charge of the team.
Greatest strength: the short-handed game
Dresden's defense in particular, which has enormous difficulties with speed and positioning, is extremely vulnerable. Over 100 goals conceded after 24 games is definitely far too many. At the same time, their short-handed play works surprisingly well and the Saxons are one of the top teams in the league.
On the other hand, their power play is not working very well and scoring goals is a major problem. Only 45 goals scored are the weakest figure in the league.

Munich ex-trio stand out
Alongside Parkes (six goals, nine assists), another former Munich player is one of the top performers in attack. Austin Ortega has already scored eleven goals. We also know defender Emil Johansson from his time in a Red Bulls jersey; the Swede (ten scoring points) is the Eislöwen's best defender.
In goal, the Saxons replaced the Slovak Julius Hudacek (Pinguins Bremerhaven) with Jussi Olkinuora (formerly Löwen Frankfurt) around four weeks ago. The Finnish Olympic and world champion is doing a good job on the Elbe. However, Janick Schwendener, who already made a strong save in Ingolstadt on Friday evening, could also stand between the posts against us. Either way, the Eislöwen have the fewest worries in the goalie position.
