DEL preview, match day 31: EHC Red Bull München visits Ingolstadt
After seven consecutive wins, our team is traveling to Ingolstadt with a lot of momentum behind them, with just two points separating the two teams. Munich is in fourth place with 61 points, while ERC is at the top of the German Ice Hockey League with two points more. Mannheim and Cologne are in between with 62 points each. The starting position is therefore clear: with three points, we would overtake the Panthers and climb to at least third place.

Comeback with the Penguins
On Sunday, we were unstoppable in Bremerhaven, even after falling behind early on. One of the match winners in the 6-3 victory was Patrick Hager with a brace – including Munich's 100th goal of the DEL season.
Afterwards, the captain explained to MagentaSport: “What sets us apart is that we can come back strong even after setbacks.” And that's noticeable: the Red Bulls have won eleven of their last 13 games, earning 32 points – the highest total in the DEL. Right behind them is ERC Ingolstadt (29 points), our next opponent.
3:5 | Hager mit dem Doppelpack
Ingolstadt's 2-3 defeat at bottom-of-the-table Dresden on the last match day does not change anything: ERC is having a strong season. Coach Mark French's team won eleven DEL games in a row, setting a new record in ERC history – until the streak came to an end in early December with a 0-2 defeat in Munich. Nevertheless, Ingolstadt continues to sit atop the table.
Barber leads the goal-hungry Panthers
The offensive is the team's showpiece. The ERC broke the 100-goal barrier on the 23rd match day – Mannheim and Straubing followed five match days later, and now our team has done the same. Riley Barber stands out from the goal-hungry ERC offense. The American currently leads the PENNY DEL in scoring (41 points) and goals (22). Barber is one of the reasons why the Panthers have now scored 130 goals.
Defense vulnerable lately
The Panthers also bring firepower to the defense, especially with Alex Breton. The Canadian is the top scorer among all defensemen with 32 points. His teammate Leon Hüttl is also having a strong season, both offensively and defensively.
Nevertheless, the defense has not always been so solid lately. In terms of numbers, 14 goals conceded in the last five games are significantly more than the Red Bulls had to concede in the same period (six). Goaltenders Alex Brochu and Devin Williams – currently injured – have save percentages below the 90 percent mark this season.
Special duel for Fabio Wagner
Fabio Wagner has been playing for the Panthers for the past eleven years – for a long time as captain. Since the summer, the German international has been playing for the Red Bulls. On Tuesday, the ever-present player will contest his 600th DEL game against his former club.

// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
The Upper Bavarian clubs have met twice this season – both times the home teams won: Two and a half weeks ago, we won 2-0 at SAP Garden. Before that, we were defeated 3-6 in Ingolstadt. We haven't won at Saturn Arena in five games. But with the confidence we have gained from our recent performances, we want to end this streak and continue our run in the DEL.
