DEL preview, match day 36: EHC Red Bull München welcomes Adler Mannheim

A bang to start the year at SAP Garden: Red Bulls await Adler MannheimIncreased traffic volume in the Parkharfe// DEL - PREVIEWThe year at SAP Garden kicks off with a real cracker. In their first home game of 2026, EHC Red Bull München welcomes Adler Mannheim for a top-of-the-table clash on Sunday. Our living room is sold out, and the game starts at 4:30 p.m. (live on our blog).
The Red Bulls have already made a successful start to the new calendar year. Our boys brought home two points from Wolfsburg on Friday, winning 3:2 against the Grizzlies after a penalty shootout. This was Head Coach Oliver David's team's sixth away win in a row.

// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
Our opponents from Mannheim suffered a surprising 2:5 home defeat against the bottom of the table Dresdner Eislöwen. The constellation in the table certainly promises to be exciting. Munich (2nd) and Mannheim (3rd) are neighbors in the table, with only two points separating the two teams.
After-game talk with Niederberger and Kastner
Unfortunately, we are still without Mathias Niederberger and Maxi Kastner due to injury, but you can still meet our two guys. Because around 30 minutes after the end of the game, our new After Game Talk - hosted by stadium announcer Wolfgang Dittrich - will take place in the "Henry" with the two Munich professionals, which, after its premiere on Sunday, will take place after every home game win in future. Of course, Hacker-Pschorr beer and Red Bull will again be available at a special price to go with the After Game Talk.
Parking information Due to a parallel event in the Olympiapark, we strongly recommend traveling by public transport, as the Parkharfe will be full to capacity before the start of the game. As is always the case when the Red Bulls meet the Kurpfälzer, small things will probably decide who will leave the ice as the winner on Sunday. In the last match-up so far, it was our boys. Thanks to an outstanding final period with four goals, the Red Bulls won 4-0 at the end of October last year, with Mathias Niederberger celebrating a shutout.
Highlights: EHC Red Bull München vs. Adler Mannheim (October 31, 2025)
// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
The first duel this season went narrowly to Mannheim, a few weeks earlier the Eagles won 4:3 on penalties.
Mannheim's showpiece continues to be its defense. Coach Dallas Eakins' team has only conceded 82 goals, the fewest in the PENNY DEL. Between November 30 and December 12, the team from the square city even achieved a special feat: Mannheim notched up four clean sheets in a row during this period. Maximilian Franzreb has kept his goal clean four times, Johan Mattsson has three shutouts. Unsurprisingly, both goalkeepers are among the league leaders.
This also applies to Nicolas Mattinen, the defenseman with the hard shot has already recorded 33 scoring points (including 15 goals) and is an important factor in the league's best power play. Together with the physical Dan Renouf, who will certainly also play in Mannheim next season, Mattinen forms the number one defensive pairing.
In recent weeks, however, the defense has not been quite as solid. Against Ingolstadt, Berlin, Wolfsburg, Cologne and Dresden, the Kurpfälzer conceded five goals each.

The game against Adler Mannheim in pictures (October 31, 2025)
Two new attackers, top performer drops out
The Eagles have recently made further additions to their forward line. In Brendan O'Donnell (most recently HC Kometa Brno), Mannheim has brought a familiar face back to the PENNY DEL; the 33-year-old Canadian has been a successful scorer for Düsseldorf EG in recent years. In addition, attacker Eric Uba was transferred to Löwen Frankfurt, while U23 forward Kevin Bicker returned to his old club in exchange. The loss of Tom Kühnhackl, who will be out for months due to an upper body injury, is painful from Mannheim's point of view.
The most dangerous forward is Anthony Greco (36 points), who forms a line-up with Zach Solow and Kris Bennett. The trio have scored regularly in recent weeks.
Recently, however, we've had the Mannheim offense very well under control and that should also be the case on Sunday.
