DEL preview, match day 41: EHC Red Bull Munich at the Nuremberg Ice Tigers
The past few years have not been easy in Nuremberg. We suffered four consecutive defeats in the Franconian metropolis before ending our dry spell with a 3-2 victory in our first meeting this season. That was the turning point. The Red Bulls also won the following two home games. Another victory would mean the first regular season sweep against Nuremberg in six years.
Following Friday's 3-1 win against the Dresdner Eislöwen, it would also be the fourth DEL win in a row.
Ice Tigers fully in the race for the first playoff round
The Ice Tigers go into the 41st match day in ninth place. On Friday, Nuremberg impressively beat Adler Mannheim 4-2.
The team has been struggling at home recently, with only one win in five games, which is not enough to extend their lead over eleventh place and the non-playoff spots. Nevertheless, coach Mitch O'Keefe's team currently has its fate in its own hands when it comes to reaching the first playoff round. They are five points ahead of Augsburg.

// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
Barratt in a class of his own
Evan Barratt has played a major role in this success. The American is once again one of the top scorers in the PENNY DEL this season. He currently ranks second with 52 points, behind Ingolstadt's Riley Barber (55 points). Barratt impresses with his vision and ability to set up his teammates.
His 39 assists are by far the best in the league. Barratt has already proven his class against the Red Bulls, scoring three points in the three games between the two teams this season.
Treutle and Fitzpatrick – two former Munich players in goal
In goal for the Ice Tigers, two goalies who have already played for Munich in the DEL share the duties: Niklas Treutle and Evan Fitzpatrick. Treutle leads in both appearances and save percentage. Defensemen Marcus Weber and Jakob Weber as well as forward Thomas Heigl have also played for the Red Bulls. Only Heigl has scored against us this season (one goal).

Hirose with strong record against Nuremberg
On the other side is Taro Hirose, an expert in Bayern duels: the Canadian has contributed four points (all assists) against the Ice Tigers this season. The top scorers in the head-to-head matches are Adam Brooks and Yasin Ehliz with two goals each. If the trio scores again on Sunday, our chances of a fourth win of the season against the Franconians will increase. It would be the perfect start to the final quarter of the main round.
