DEL preview, match day 47: EHC Red Bull München welcomes the Kölner Haie

Top match at SAP Garden: Red Bulls await league leaders Cologne// DEL - PREVIEWEHC Red Bull München welcomes the Kölner Haie to the sold-out SAP Garden on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. (live on our blog). One thing is clear: we want our fourth win in our fourth matchup.
With six points, the Red Bulls have come out of the Olympic break in perfect form. After their derby victory against Ingolstadt, our boys followed up with another win against a Bavarian rival on Friday evening with a 4-2 victory in Augsburg. This means that we have secured our place in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.

The Kölner Haie had this one in the bag for quite some time. The confident league leaders were back on track right from the restart with two home wins. They beat Dresden, who have already been relegated, 7-2, and two days later secured a 6-3 victory against Ingolstadt.
Now the two teams are meeting for the fourth time in this year's main round – we won all of the first three encounters.
Restricted access to the Parkharfe
We currently strongly recommend that all visitors to our home games use public transportation to get to and from the arena. Reason: Due to construction work on Landshuter Allee, there will be restrictions on traveling by car to the SAP Garden and the Parkharfe until further notice.
In addition, there will be another parallel event at the Olympic Park during the game against Cologne, which will further increase traffic at Parkharfe.
Munich as the final opponent?
So far this season, the Sharks have had a tough time against us. The Red Bulls won 4-2 and 2-0 in Cologne, while we prevailed 2-1 in overtime at the SAP Garden in December thanks to a game-winning goal from Brady Ferguson. In all three games, strong defensive work and a compact team performance were crucial in helping us break down the Rhinelanders.

This means that we know exactly what to do and how to play against the current dominant team in the PENNY DEL.
Cologne breaks the DEL record
This is not exactly true of our competitors. After losing 1-2 in overtime in Munich, Cologne started an impressive winning streak. Coach Kari Jalonen's team went on to win an impressive 16 games in a row, something no other club has ever achieved before. This makes the cathedral city's team the sole record holder in Germany's top league.
It's no coincidence that the Sharks are clearly leading the table with 107 points and a 15-point lead over Mannheim. If everything goes according to plan, Cologne will enter the playoffs at the top of the table for the first time in 26 years.
Finnish is the trump card
There are no real weaknesses to be found in the KEC, which has four Olympic athletes in its ranks: captain Moritz Müller and forward Parker Tuomie (both Germany) and the two attackers Frederik Storm and Patrick Russell (both Denmark).
The defense is excellent and has one of the best goalies in the league in the quick-reacting Finn Janne Juvonen. In front of him, his two compatriots Valtteri Kemiläinen and Oliver Kaski are performing at a high level, with the strong defensive duo already collecting 70 points between them. And defensively, the physical Brady Austin clears a lot of the way.
Top duo Russell and MacLeod
The offense is led by Russell, one of the most dangerous forwards in the PENNY DEL with 58 points. Together with center Gregor MacLeod (52 points), the Sharks have a dangerous duo in their ranks. But Nate Schnarr and Dominik Bokk (17 goals each) also have enormous firepower.

Added to this is Cologne's power play, which is a real weapon. The Sharks strike at least once in almost every game when they have numerical superiority on the ice, making them the top team in the league in this respect too.
With another win, the Red Bulls would make another statement just a few weeks before the start of the playoffs. “There is no team that scares us,” said our captain Patrick Hager. Not even the Cologne Sharks.
