After the hard-fought 3:2 victory in the Bavarian duel at the Nuremberg Ice Tigers on Thursday, our boys now face the duel in the Kurpfalz. "The win is very good for us"
After two defeats in a row, the Red Bulls finally picked up three points in Nuremberg. "The win is very good for us," emphasized Maxi Kastner. "We didn't play well at times in the last few games and shot ourselves in the foot. We got too many counter-attacks against us," said the 32-year-old.

In Franconia, our team showed an improved defensive performance over long stretches, and goalkeeper Simon Wolf also made a strong save. The crux of the matter: After Nuremberg struck twice to equalize the score at 2:2 in the final third, we struck coldly in a double power play through Tobias Rieder. It should have been the decider.
"We just didn't pay attention five minutes after taking the 2:0 lead and Nuremberg put a lot of pressure on us. But then our overtime game worked," summarized Kastner.
Mannheim in pole position
In Mannheim, it's not just the power play that's currently working excellently, but also the penalty kill and the five-on-five play. In short: the Eagles are the best team so far this season. Our playoff quarter-final opponents from the previous season have won a whopping eight of their first nine games, putting them in a commanding first place. Above all, their defense is their greatest strength. The Eagles have only conceded 13 goals, which is by far the top figure.

Eagles' new signings hit the ground running
The signings in the goalkeeper position have been a complete success so far, and all the new additions appear to be real reinforcements. Both goalies Maximilian Franzreb (came from Bremerhaven) and Johan Mattsson (most recently Barys Astana) have shown outstanding performances. In addition, the Eagles brought back the powerful shooting former Straubing defender Nicolas Mattinen to Germany, while Dan Renouf, a physically present defenseman from the AHL, was added.
Tom Kühnhackl (lower body) will probably be missing in attack, with Marc Michaelis the top scorer with 13 points. The center forward harmonizes brilliantly with former Munich goal scorer Justin Schütz, who came from the Cologne Sharks in the summer. Another German international, Alex Ehl, was acquired, while the two Americans Zach Solow and Anthony Greco further strengthen the offense.
Maxi Kastner concludes: "We took a step in the right direction in Nuremberg. Now we have to make sure we keep picking up points." Our team wants to go one better in Mannheim.
