EHC Red Bull München celebrates successful DEL weekend

Six points, two shutouts, Ehliz anniversary: Red Bulls celebrate successful weekend// CURRENTWith top games against Adler Mannheim and Kölner Haie, last weekend presented two real challenges. The results from the doubleheader against the top clubs could hardly have been better.
Before the international break, the Red Bulls had to prove themselves in two real tests of endurance. Last Friday, the Eagles were guests at SAP Garden. Despite two previous defeats, Mannheim was still at the top of the table before the game.
Ehliz celebrates his 400th DEL game in a Munich jersey
It was the competitive match that had been expected. The spectators in our home arena, which was sold out for the first time this season, had to wait until the 50th minute for the first cheer. After that, coach Oliver David's team played like they were unleashed. Captain Patrick Hager's hard-fought 1-0 goal was followed by a spectacular 2-0 goal from Taro Hirose's solo effort, a successful solo effort from Veit Oswald to make it 3-0, and an empty-net goal from Tobias Rieder to seal the 4-0 final score.

Although he was not directly involved in any of the four goals, Yasin Ehliz also had reason to celebrate. The forward played his 400th game in an EHC Red Bull Munich jersey on Friday. The 32-year-old repeatedly created chances and appeared in the opponent's goal area several times himself.
Strong Niederberger keeps a clean sheet against Mannheim
The Red Bulls fired a total of 57 shots—the highest number this season. Mannheim also constantly tested Mathias Niederberger, who showed nerves of steel between the posts on more than one occasion. The personal record of our goalie, who has just left for the Deutschland Cup in Landshut: 22 saves, his first shutout this season.
“The victory feels very good. Mannheim is strong this season, but we earned the three points today. We wanted to be patient and not push too hard – we did that. We are on the right track,” concluded a satisfied goalkeeper after the game.

Red Bulls show morale in Cologne too
The Red Bulls wanted to stay on this “right track” on Sunday too. The game against runners-up Kölner Haie was similar to Friday's. It was a hard-fought game – in which Munich once again showed more determination. Hager opened the scoring at his old stomping ground with a rebound in the 32nd minute to give Red Bull Munich a 1-0 lead.
The Red Bulls then put the game beyond doubt during a period of pressure from Cologne in the final period. Markus Eisenschmid finished off a well-worked counterattack set up by Chris DeSousa to make it 2-0. This time, Niederberger saved 24 shots from the home team, keeping a clean sheet throughout the entire weekend.
“Two games in a row without conceding a goal is a testament to the incredible performance of the entire team. We made hardly any mistakes and took advantage of our chances up front. It was a very strong game before the international break,” said the DEB goalie happily.

Munich climbs the DEL table
The two victories and six points that came with them were not only a real demonstration of strength by David's team. The Red Bulls climbed from ninth to sixth place in the PENNY DEL table. Although one might think that the break comes at a bad time, the days off are a welcome break.
Following the suspensions of DeSousa and Brady Ferguson, who still has one more game to sit out, the injured players are now also getting closer to their comeback thanks to the Deutschland Cup. Defender Maximilian Dauber is currently still recovering from a lower body injury, while forward Gabriel Fontaine was recently sidelined with an upper body injury.
With fresh legs, the team will continue on Thursday, November 13, at the Pinguins Bremerhaven (7:30 p.m.). The next home game will be the derby against the Nürnberg Ice Tigers on Sunday (November 16 | 4:30 p.m.) at the SAP Garden. Tickets are still available for the game against the eleventh-placed team in the table.
