EHC Red Bull München: Here's how the Red Bulls' summer training works

Red Bulls Summer Training: Individual Plans and a New Addition to the Schedule// NEWSThe end of one season marks the beginning of the next: Summer training has been underway for the players of EHC Red Bull München since May 4. A clearly structured schedule helps the pros prepare step by step for the upcoming season.
At the start, the focus was primarily on building basic endurance and general strength. During the first four weeks, the players underwent hypertrophy training—a broad-based strength training program designed to build a solid physical foundation.
Following a week of recovery, the next phase has now begun: training is becoming more specialized. The focus is shifting more toward explosive power and maximum strength. The specific areas of focus for each player are determined by the results of previous tests and performance assessments.
Training group in Munich – Plans for travelers
A small group is currently training in Munich. The group consists mainly of younger players such as Rio Kaiser, Veit Oswald, Matthias Bittner, and Philipp Krening—but Maximilian Kastner and Brady Ferguson, who is currently on a two-week vacation in Texas, are also part of the summer training group.
Players who are not currently on site have also been given personalized plans. Before they left, they were assessed to identify their strengths and areas for improvement. Based on this, they are now continuing their training independently and will receive customized programs for the next training phase.
We maintain close communication with the coaching and athletic training staff. On training days, the players in Munich usually start with breakfast in the morning before heading to the weight room or other sessions and assessments around 9 a.m. We also stay in regular contact with the professional players who are abroad. We hold meetings at least every two weeks to discuss training progress, adjustments, or possible alternatives.
Muay Thai training for a change of pace – Ice time starting in mid-June
A special feature of this year’s summer program is Muay Thai training. These sessions take place once a week at Munich MMA and are designed to provide a varied complement to traditional endurance training. In addition to improving cardiovascular fitness, the sessions also focus on core strength, coordination, and new movement patterns.
The team will return to the ice for the first time in mid-June: the first on-ice practice is scheduled for June 15. This marks the start of the next important phase of preparation. The entire team is expected to be back by the end of July. The coming weeks will feature additional testing and joint preparations for the new season, including the first preseason games and the Red Bulls Salute.
