EHC Red Bull Munich: Trevor Carrick joins from the Charlotte Checkers
In recent years, Carrick has been one of the most prominent defensemen in the North American professional league. Most recently, the left-handed shooter captained the Charlotte Checkers and recorded 24 points (6 goals | 18 assists). In total, the left-handed shooter played 813 games over twelve AHL seasons, recording 440 points (111 goals | 329 assists).
With his experience, Carrick ranks among the most productive defensemen in league history. The 1.85-meter-tall, 91-kilogram defenseman won the Calder Cup with Charlotte in 2019 and was nominated three times for the AHL All-Star Game, most recently last season. In addition, he led all AHL defensemen in game-winning goals during the 2019–20 season. Former Munich player Zach Redmond once achieved the same feat. With the Red Bulls, Carrick will fittingly wear jersey number 44, the number Redmond most recently wore in Munich.
Carrick is the Charlotte Checkers’ all-time leader in games played
Carrick left a lasting mark with the Charlotte Checkers. With 414 appearances, he holds the franchise record for most games played, and with 178 assists, he is also the club’s all-time assist leader. In addition to his long AHL career, he also played several NHL games for the Carolina Hurricanes and the San Jose Sharks. He also won the Spengler Cup with Team Canada in 2016.
For Carrick, Munich will be his first stop outside North America. However, the Canadian will be reunited with two former teammates on the Red Bulls’ roster. He previously played alongside Dominik Kahun for the Sudbury Wolves during the 2013–14 season, and he played alongside Ryan Murphy for three years with the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL between 2016 and 2019.

He brings a wealth of experience, takes on responsibility, and plays with an intensity that’s very difficult for opponents to contain. At the same time, he’s a leader with a high level of professionalism and the kind of character we want on our team. We look forward to welcoming him to Munich.”
Neville Rautert, Managing Director of Sports at EHC Red Bull Munich: “Trevor brings exactly the qualities we’ve been looking for to strengthen our defense.
