DEL preview, match day 14: EHC Red Bull München welcomes Schwenningen
Patrick Hager almost scored the final goal himself in his 1000th DEL game. But in the last action of the game, our captain unfortunately missed the empty Berlin goal just seconds before the end – but this was ultimately only a footnote, as the Red Bulls secured a 3-2 victory against the Eisbären. This was our boys' second home win in a row.
Now we want to continue our current winning streak against Schwenningen. On Family Game Day, families with up to two adults and at least one child under the age of 14 are eligible for a discounted price. All further information can be found here!
A thank you to family, club, and fans
“Of course, it would have been nice,” said Hager after the game when asked about his possible goal. “But the three points today are much nicer. A big thank you to the guys,” said our number 52 after the game. That brought an end to this special evening, which had already begun festively before the game started. The forward was honored before the opening face-off, becoming the 13th player to join the circle of those who have played at least 1,000 games in Germany's top league. It was a scene that moved even the usually tough hockey pro.

“A big thank you goes to my family and everyone in our organization who made this possible. And especially to our fans, who gave me such a wonderful evening. Thank you very much,” summarized the birthday boy.
“Our special teams were good”
Teammate Tobias Rieder also dedicated the well-deserved three points against Berlin to his captain. “It was a very important and emotional day for Patrick. It's all the more wonderful that we were able to celebrate him with a victory,” said our two-goal scorer.
Rieder himself was responsible for keeping the points at SAP Garden with two goals. First, the Landshut native converted a rebound to tie the game, then he pushed the puck over the line on a power play. “Our special teams were good, that's how we won the game,” he emphasized afterwards. While the Red Bulls didn't allow anything on the penalty kill, the winning goal was also scored by Chris DeSousa on the power play.

Yasin Ehliz was also involved in all three Munich goals, bringing the top-scoring player in our club's history to a total of 301 points.
Wild Wings better away than at home
In the first match against Schwenningen this season, which the Wild Wings won 4-2 at the beginning of the month, Ehliz failed to score. Coach Steve Walker's team travels to the Bavarian capital on the back of a successful performance, having secured a 5-2 home win against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers on Friday.
In their last away game, the Neckarstadt team made a further statement, winning the derby against league leaders Adler Mannheim 3-0. The Wild Wings have already picked up eleven points away from home this season, making them one of the best teams on the road.

Top goalie Eriksson provides strong support
Once again, twins Tylor and Tyson Spink are leading the way with five goals each, while forward Zach Senyshyn has also scored five times. New signing Daniel O'Regan, who moved to the Neckar from the KHL a few weeks ago, has not yet made an impact in the Wild Wings' attack.
However, the team's current showpiece is its compact defense, which doesn't allow much. Defenseman Eric Martinsson has already recorded eight assists, and goalie Joacim Eriksson is an absolute rock. Statistically, the Swede is once again one of the top goalies in the league and is currently providing great support once again.
Incidentally, the last nine meetings between the two teams have always ended in home wins. From our point of view, we would like to see this series continue!
